Back to the '70s: Anya's Project Runway-winning jumpsuit available onPiperlime.com
In its ninth season, Project Runway is getting a little long in the tooth, but the reality series continues to captivate its loyal audience. The series always starts out slow, but by this point, where there are only six contestants left, the drama heightens as viewers are invested in their favorites.
Although she had only been sewing for four months before joining the show, Anya Ayoung-Chee is an audience favorite with her endearing personality — she doesn't have a mean bone in her body — and her wizardry with prints. After losing an envelope with money to purchase fabric to create an outfit with a sophisticated '70s feel, she made it work by whipping up a top made of dyed muslin and a print skirt from fabric she had purchased when another contestant gave her his leftover change.
For the competition's second outfit, she made a bold print jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and sheer back overlay that so captivated judges Michael Kors, Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Olivia Palermo that is is being offered for sale on Piperlime.com for $198.
Another competitor, Bert Keeter, who at 57 is Project Runway's oldest contestant ever, created a two-tone jersey Grecian-style dress with cord belt that Piperlime.com also offered for sale at $99. It was so popular that it sold out in only a few days.
