New Austin design shop offers one-of-a-kind finds for every budget
Austin’s burgeoning downtown design district has just added a new shop to the mix. Annie Downing Interiors Showroom opened Monday in a charming bungalow off West Sixth Street.
The store is bright and cheery, with a specially curated collection from a wide variety of markets and vendors across the United States. In addition to staple furniture items, Annie Downing Interiors features art, accessories, barware, lighting, pillows and blankets, dining sets, and one-of-a-kind vintage finds.
Owned by designer Annie Downing, the showroom exemplifies Downing’s keen eye for stylish, long-lasting home goods that fit every budget. She’s also cultivated interesting statement pieces including Henredon and Florence Knoll chests, Mastercraft pieces, and newly upholstered furniture.
"I get really excited when I find something no one else has and can offer that to my clients," says Downing. "That is special, and the only true way to get that unique look is through combining vintage pieces with modern-day goods."
The Annie Downing Interiors Showroom welcomes both designers and regular customers alike, hoping to be a resource for the neighborhood, as well as the design community.
"I hope the showroom is an inspiration point for people, and a place where they can see different furniture pieces mixed with a variety of fabrics," she says, adding that it’s important to her as a designer to have a brick-and-mortar "for people to come in and really test out the furniture before they order it."
Annie Downing Interiors Showroom is open 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday and by appointment on evenings and weekends.
