Austin musician Dayglow's home gets a spotlight in Architectural Digest
Austin's penchant for developing creative talent knows no bounds, and when its artists return to the city for some down time, their homes are their peaceful retreats away from the fuss of public life. That rings especially true for musician Sloan Struble – known professionally as Dayglow – and his wife, Reagan, who recently shared their 19th century Austin home with the team at Architectural Digest.
The farmhouse is secluded on a three-acre property in the "Austin countryside," giving the creative couple the height of privacy, as well as breathtaking views of the Hill Country.
While it's quite a feat to take on a 150-year-old Victorian-style farmhouse as first-time homeowners, Reagan's interior design expertise helped her to renovate the modest home with longevity and flexibility as the top priorities.
"I wanted it to be apparent that two artists live here," Reagan shared with AD. (We've heard that Dayglow moved to California in 2023, so this may not be a full-time living situation.)
Paintings that Sloan or the couple created themselves adorn the soft white walls of the home, creating a serene visual journey throughout the space.
Additional features of the home that cater to the couple's artistic and laid-back lifestyles include a variety of secondhand furniture sourced from thrift shops or Facebook Marketplace.
"85 percent of this house is secondhand," Reagan said. "It’s important for us to be sustainable and just make things work."

Cotton canvas Melo dining chairs sit at the kitchen table for Reagan to work from, and antique desks can be found throughout the home for any at-home work or sudden bursts of creative energy.
Sloan explained that designing a lived-in space was more important than creating something sterile for hosting or showing off.
"We were like, ‘How can we make this space as comfortable as possible for us and [maybe a few of our friends]?'” he said.
