Two Austin-based companies make new list of Best Workplaces for Millennials
Two Austin-based companies are on a new list of 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials, compiled by Fortune magazine and the Great Place to Work Institute.
The inaugural report surveyed more than 90,000 employees and asked participants to rate their employers' practices. No fewer than 50 employees were surveyed from each of the 465 participating companies; the list only considered responses from employees under age 35.
Austin-based CWS Apartment Homes ranks No. 64 on the list. At CWS, 44 percent of the workers are millennials. Workers are eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, and CWS funds up to 90 percent of an employee’s in-state undergraduate tuition costs.
Cirrus Logic ranks No. 87. The electronics company plays up the Austin vibe for its employees. "Employees of the company take advantage of the fun locale around its corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas, a place known for its lively music scene, through company-sponsored happy hours. Cirrus also hosts rock concerts at the office and offers free festival tickets, too," writes Fortune.
Texas isn't short on millennial-friendly companies. In total, 13 make the list. The Dallas metro area has five, including Chili's Bar and Grill at No. 11. Houston has four, with David Weekley Homes scoring the No. 2 spot. San Antonio represents with two; NuStar Energy is the city's top performing company at No. 32.
Other companies on the list include Google (No. 25), Twitter (No. 31) and Yelp (No. 41).
