Gaze out over the 5 best rooftop views of downtown Austin
When seeking out your ideal next home, amenities are key. EastGatecondominiumsnot only showcase 17 unique and luxurious floorplans, but the community also features a killer location, coveted amenities, and affordable prices for its residents.
Not least of these is the rooftop deck, which faces south and west toward downtown Austin and affords some truly stunning views. Some of the condos themselves even boast their own private rooftop terraces, giving homeowners an exclusive retreat.
Where else can you kick back and marvel at Austin's skyline? Here are five favorites.
Azul Rooftop Bar & Lounge
Located atop the Westin Austin Downtown, this globally award-winning pool received a fancy facelift in 2017 that brought about upgraded cabanas, an enhanced menu, and a freshened-up fire pit. The heated pool is open to the public year-round (though Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for hotel guests), and adults are encouraged to kick back with a cocktail while enjoying the 180-degree views that extend all the way to Barton Creek Greenbelt.
Cookbook Cafe
Typically food and drink are taboo at a library, but not so at this counter-service eatery within the Austin Public Library. It's the home of the Virginia B. Wood Memorial Cookbook Collection, where food lovers and cooks alike can have access to 500 cookbooks and dozens of Texas-centric book. On the library's expansive rooftop, Cookbook's coffee cart is open every day until 3 pm with drip coffee, a variety of pastries, and more for patrons to enjoy while taking in beautiful views of Austin.
Geraldine's
Another hotel must-visit, Geraldine's sits inside the posh Hotel Van Zandt and promises a "bat's eye view" of Lady Bird Lake. It's named after the famed guinea fowl that once roamed Rainey Street but now is equally known for its nightly concert lineup and rooftop lounge. The pool is reserved for hotel guests, but the public can dine at the poolside patio and bar.
Rules & Regs
On the seventh floor of the Fairmont Austin is a pool and bar that provides some jaw-dropping views. Many of the cocktails are available in pitchers, and a tap list of 10 craft beers shows some love to local breweries. As with many of the hotels, pool access is limited to guests only but you can still grab a seat and something to sip while you enjoy the sunset.
Speakeasy
This music-focused cocktail den is comprised of three levels, the highest of which is known as Terrace59 (count your steps heading up there). Dotted with palm trees and covered against inclement weather, the rooftop bar also offers bottle service and typically employs a DJ to keep the energy high.
