This Austin Realtor delivers her clients the perfect pairing
Kat Brooks began her career in quite a different field: fine wine. After spending several years helping people pair the ideal wines with their meals, Brooks relocated to Austin in 1999 and began pairing her clients with their dream homes.
Brooks takes a full-service approach to both the buying and selling processes, with the bonus of being a Certified International Property Specialist, an Accredited Buyer Representative, and a Certified Residential Specialist. Her expertise, kindness, flexibility, and true understanding of her clients' needs makes the experience effortless, and has resulted in hundreds of happy homeowners who have found a piece of the good life in Austin.
In addition to her career, Brooks finds great enjoyment in giving back to the community that has given her so much. She currently serves as a member of the Christopher Guild - Center for Child Protection Services and on the board of the Central Texas Water Coalition. She has also served on the boards for the Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival, Any Baby Can, and The Long Center for the Performing Arts.
We chatted with Brooks to find out more about her work and what drives her.
CultureMap: What inspires you to do what you do?
Kat Brooks: My love of helping people with one of the most important decisions they will make. I am a very driven and competitive person who enjoys finding the perfect home to fit my clients' needs and dreams.
CM: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to those who are selling their home?
KB: Listen to what other people tell you about your home and take it as constructive criticism. Remember that you see your home every day and sometimes might overlook the small details that others can spot.
CM: Sum up Austin in three words.
KB: Beautiful, fast, fun.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
KB: Being thorough. I know and understand the real estate market, so after meeting my clients I can find them a home quickly.
CM: Finish the sentence: "It's a good day when..."
KB: I have closed on a home that has taken time, effort, and patience, and can see my clients' joy and happiness in their dream home.
