The long-awaited restaurant concept from former La Condesa chefs Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki finally has an opening date. Launderette, housed in a former laundromat on Holly Street, opens to the public on Thursday, February 19.

"It was the spirit of the space that drives our menu of simple, every day fare," says Chef Rene Ortiz of the neighborhood cafe.

Launderette will serve "snacky" options like fried oysters, wood grill offerings like charred octopus, a healthy heaping of vegetables, and specialties like brick chicken. Wine and cocktails will also be available.

The 100-seat space (which includes a patio) will initially open for dinner service only. Dinner hours are Sunday through Thursday from 5-10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 5-11 pm. In the coming weeks, expect breakfast and lunch options to launch as well.
