Twin Peaks
Restaurant from cult favorite Twin Peaks pops up in Austin for just 2 days
The fictional Breaking Bad restaurant Los Pollos Hermanos rolled into Austin at the start of SXSW 2017 and made quite a splash with curly fries and celebrity appearances.
Now, another TV restaurant is opening its doors. The Double R Diner from cult favorite Twin Peaks will pop up in Austin on March 16-17, ahead of the series' highly anticipated return to television this spring.
The temporary restaurant, located next door to the Showtime House (Clive Bar) on Rainey Street, will feature complimentary, locally made goodies like High Brew Coffee, cherry pies from Tiny Pies, and Twin Peaks-inspired bites from Voodoo Doughnuts. Kyle MacLachlan, who portrays FBI agent Dale Cooper in the show, will swing by on Thursday night.
After a 25-year absence, director David Lynch's supernatural crime story has been picked up by Showtime. The premiere airs May 21, and the show picks up 25 years from where the original series left off.
On the original show, the Double R Diner was operated by Norma Jennings (played by Peggy Lipton) and served as a regular hangout for key characters. The Double R Diner pop-up opens Thursday and Friday at noon, and treats will be available while supplies last. The Showtime House, complete with a Twin Peaks-inspired music lineup, opens at 2 pm.
Both are open to SXSW attendees; non-badge-holders can RSVP here.
