There’s never a bad time for a cold brew, especially if it’s one of the many craft beers readily available in Austin. With so many local breweries (and brewery enthusiasts), there isn't a shortage of great beer-centric events.
And April has a wide selection of events to choose from, from intimate gatherings at neighborhood bars to a film festival that understands that beer and movies pair perfectly together.
Austin Premiere of CRAFT at Banger’s: Tuesday, April 8
In a perfect world, every movie would be about beer. Until that world arrives, we can enjoy the local premiere of Craig Noble’s new film, CRAFT. This documentary portrays Noble’s journey across the country as he learns about the art of craft brewing and how small breweries meet the high demands of their thirsty followers.
Noble will provide a Q&A afterwards, and guests can enjoy Hops & Grain brews along with a special Banger’s menu to complement the cinematic experience.
Adelbert’s Brewery 3rd Anniversary Party: Saturday, April 12
A beloved brewery celebrating another year in business is the perfect excuse to roll out the barrels and spread good cheer. Help Adelbert’s Brewery celebrate three years of great beers with an anniversary party featuring all of the year-round selections, as well as special limited brews tapped every hour.
Central Market Discovery Series on Springtime Beers: Monday, April 14
For some brew enthusiasts, spring means switching beer gears. Gone are the hefty porters and warming stouts, and in come the hefeweizens and pale ales. To help figure out what you should drink this season, let the experts at Central Market teach you about different types of spring beers and how to pair them. You’ll practically have a PhD in beer by the time you’re finished.
Star Bar’s Fourth Annual Beerversary: Wednesday, April 16
It may be hard to believe, but it’s been four years since Star Bar gave Austin another prime spot to imbibe specialty suds. To celebrate, the West Sixth joint will be tapping 11 of its favorite specialty beers and bringing in a few of the brewers to answer questions and mingle with brew enthusiasts.
2014 Off-Centered Film Festival: Thursday, April 24 – Saturday, April 26
Off-Centered is a partnership between the Alamo Drafthouse and Dogfish Head Brewery, resulting in the holy matrimony of cinema and beer. This year promises to be bigger than ever with a special guest appearance by Andy Samberg and the rest of The Lonely Island crew. So get your tickets, grab your friends be prepared to drink your way through specialty ales — like a boss.
Epicerie and Adelbert’s Brewery Crawfish Boil: Sunday, April 27
Springtime marks the return of the great Cajun tradition of community crawfish boils, and Epicerie and Adelbert’s are planning a crawfish celebration of their very own. For $35 expect a heaping plate of crawdads, scrumptious sides and a whole bunch of Adelbert's to wash it all down.
