Sommelier Passing
Dirk Miller, Glass2Plate sommelier and former Wink beverage director, has passed away
Former Wink beverage director and founder of Glass2Plate Supper Club Dirk Miller passed away this weekend. News of the well-respected sommelier has hit the Austin community with a heavy sadness.
Earlier in the weekend, Glass2Plate co-founder Matthew Taylor began circulating alerts around social media outlets requesting any assistance in locating Miller following a few scheduled events that Miller had missed. Many fellow friends and colleagues spread the word in hopes of finding him safe.
The search dissipated this morning when Miller was found to have passed away. It is clear from many social media posts throughout the Austin food community that regard for Miller was great, and it is clear that he will be greatly missed.
Chef Mark Paul posted this message, according to Wink Restaurant’s Facebook page:

Your support means the world to his family and friends. Please respect the family’s desire for privacy in this time of grief.
