Austin-based wing joint Pluckers has found Houstonians so receptive to its menu of creative flavors and fun bar snacks that it's adding a second location. Just as the first location took over a shuttered Maggie Rita's location on North Shepherd, the Houston-area's second Pluckers will move in to a former 59 Diner location at the Katy Freeway.

According to a release, Pluckers will tear down the current building and replace it with a 7,800-square-foot structure that's approximately the same size as its first Houston location. Look for it to open in the first quarter of 2016. The new location will be the company's 18th overall.

Co-owner Sean Greenberg tells theHouston Business Journal that the new location is part of larger plans for the Houston market.

"Houston is somewhere we've been trying to get to for a long time, and now that we've had our first store, we're looking to just be smart about how we grow in the market," Greenberg says. "It's all a function of looking for the right managers."

Pluckers is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. During that time, the company has emerged as an Austin institution known for delivering a high-quality sports bar experience with scratch-made food and an extensive beer selection.
