Celebrity chef sets opening date for new downtown Austin restaurant
Celebrity chef Tim Love will be churning out his signature fare in Austin before the end of the month. Lonesome Dove opens downtown on June 25.
This is the second Lonesome Dove concept from the North Texas-based chef; the first is located in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The bistro is highly regarded for western cuisine with a focus on meat dishes — think rabbit-rattlesnake sausage, Rocky Mountain elk loin, beef tenderloin and lamb brisket.
The new outpost serves as Love's foray into the local restaurant scene, but he's no stranger to the Capital City. Love is one of the founders of the Austin Food + Wine Festival — and a popular (raucous) fixture of the annual event.
Love announced the opening date via Twitter earlier this week. A bare-bones Lonesome Dove Austin website is online, and reservations are being accepted. Lonesome Dove Austin takes over the former Kenichi space at 419 Colorado St.
