No More Kin & Comfort
Austin rising star chef's neighborhood restaurant shutters without warning

There seems to be no end to the restaurant closures rocking Austin this year. North Austin favorite Kin & Comfort is the latest to throw in the towel.
The team took to Facebook Wednesday to share the news: "It is very sad that we have to announce that we must close our doors. We appreciate all your business and thank you for letting us serve you the past two years."
Kin & Comfort was tucked away inside the food court of Hana World Market on Parmer Lane. The menu was a unique blend between Thai and Southern cuisines, with dishes like catfish fries with curry, Panang mac and cheese, and Thai meatloaf with gravy. The facade may have been unassuming, but the customers were loyal and the food was well-loved.
A reason for the sudden closure was not given, but the team apologized to regulars for the inconvenience. "We are very sorry for such short notice and the inconvenience it may have caused you."
Hopefully this won't be the last we hear from chef/owner Ek Timrerk. Best-known for helming Kin & Comfort, the rising star's influence is seen at other area restaurants, most notably Titaya's Thai Cuisine, owned by his sister.
