Trailer Food Extravaganza
What's the best trailer food in town? You can be the judge at the Gypsy Picnic
Last fall, the first ever Gypsy Picnic proved that Austinites really dig food from trailers, and that the trailer food scene has made a lasting imprint on Austin's landscape. Foodies from across Austin flooded Auditorium Shores to support their favorite trailers and sample bites from other mobile eateries whose paths they hadn’t yet crossed.
And next Saturday, October 22, Austinites will do it all over again at the second annual Gypsy Picnic. This year’s festival, set to be a larger affair than last year's, will feature more than 40 rolling restaurants, all with $3 samples available, and live music from Austin’s country king Dale Watson. Given last year’s crazy turnout, it’s safe to assume this year’s Gypsy Picnic will hit another one out of the (trailer) park.
Want the food without the lines? We’ve got the answer. CultureMap is hosting a contest on Gowalla giving you the chance to sit at the experts’ table and be a guest judge in the Gypsy Picnic cook off.
All you have to do to enter is visit a few of your favorite trailers (or try out some new ones) between now and next Thursday. On Gowalla, you’ll find our list of 25 participating vendors for the Gypsy Picnic. Check into three of them by next Thursday, and you’ll be entered to be a Gypsy Picnic judge.
