Details on the 4th Annual Urban Farm Bicycle Tour, kicking off Edible Austin EatDrink Local Week
There is nothing like a long, 20-mile bike ride to kick off the week-long celebration of eating and drinking that is Edible Austin Eat Drink Local Week.
The 4th Annual Urban Farm Bicycle Tour presented by Bicycle Sports Shop this Saturday, Dec. 3, marks the beginning of a week to honor the local, fresh bounty of Central Texas. The self-guided tour will stop at more than 20 urban farms and school and community gardens. At each stop, riders will be rewarded for their efforts with a chef-prepared food sampling.
Riders can choose from one of three starting points and times: SFC Farmers' Market at The Triangle at 9 a.m., the Bicycle Sports Shop on South Lamar at 9:30 a.m. and SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown at Republic Square at 10 a.m. Tickets are $30 and free for children under 16. Proceeds will benefit Sustainable Food Center and Youth Launch’s Urban Roots Program.
After the tour, from 4 - 7 p.m., there will be live music and a community picnic of roasted pork and fresh harvested sides at Springdale Farm. Tickets for the picnic are $30 (tour and picnic are separate events). Purchase tickets here.
