Bourbon ice cream and a bro brunch pal up in Austin food news

Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Bourbon will be featured in a new Amy's Ice Creams flavor that supports Texas parks.
There's always competition in the restaurant scene, but Austinites are playing nicely together for at least the next two weeks. Collaborations combine bourbon and ice cream, sea urchin and wine, and barbecue and speakeasy cocktails, and more.
Openings and closings
A truly tiny coffee shop is now open at 13538 Suncrest Rd. in Manor. Cielito Lindo Café is something between a trailer and a giant kettle, serving coffee, matcha, horchata, and fancy toasts. So far the shop has charmed visitors with its unique shape, but it sounds like the luxe drinks are also living up to the hype.
South Korean bakery chain Paris Baguette soft openedits first Leander location at 128 South Brook Dr, Ste 160, on April 28, with a grand opening coming on May 9. The chain blends European and Asian pastry styles, with lots of flaky bakes and cute designs. Grab-and-go sandwiches cover practical needs in between artful sweets.
Other news and notes
Omakase restaurant Otoko and natural wine producer Scotty-Boy! Wine have collaborated on a limited-edition blend. "Across the Uni-verse" is a 2022 Ramato and Pétillant Naturel wine produced in Santa Barbara Count. Chef Yoshi Okai's favorite ingredient is sea urchin, or uni, and the wine was developed to pair perfectly. The wine will be available by the glass and bottle at Otoko and its bar, Watertrade. Discounted bundles with Otoko's signature caviar will also be available.
Countless Austin friendships are forged in the fire of brunch, and the Austin Justice Coalition is extending an invitation to Black and Brown men. Bro Brunch will be held at Busy Signal, a speakeasy at Victory East, on Saturday, May 3, from 11 am to 3 pm. It's titled "Brother, You Good? – Healing Out Loud" to reflect the conversations that'll take place, allowing community members to check in with each other. Tickets ($20) are available at everyaction.com.
For those who want a bit of a kick in their ice cream, Amy’s Ice Creams is offering a limited-edition flavor made with Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Bourbon starting May 3. The flavor uses a sweet cream base and adds Heath Bar pieces and candied pecans. A fifth of this bourbon goes for $179.99, so it might be many Austinites' only chance to try it. Amy's will donate 5 percent of all May 3 sales to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation to preserve Texas parks, including Balmorhea State Park in West Texas.
Japanese steakhouse TenTen and farm-to-table storeRadius Butcher & Grocery will introduce a collaborative Umami Wagyu Burger on May 9, available through June 9. Customers can order it at TenTen’s happy hour from 4:30-6 pm every day except Sunday. The $24 burger uses meat from Floresville, Texas, which is seasoned with salt and mushroom powder. It's then topped with cheese from Veldhuizen Creamery in Dublin, Texas; shallot scape (flower); lime supreme; pickled sweet pepper relish; grilled onion; and house mayo and seasoned beef fat. Customers can also pick up a burger kit for $32 at Radius daily from 10 am to 8 pm while supplies last.
Food and music festivalHotLuck is partnering with the like-minded cocktail barEquipment Room and its partner Breakaway Records for a jazz takeover on Wednesday, May 14. Pitmaster Aaron Franklin (a co-founder of Hot Luck) is developing a menu for the occasion, while Josh LaRue of Breakaway chooses the tunes. Equipment Room will take care of the cocktails. Reservations for this pre-festival event are available now, but Equipment Room tends to sell out fast. Hotel Magdalena, the hotel that houses Equipment Room, is also offering 20 percent off three-night stays over Memorial Day weekend (the same weekend as the festival) with the code EXTRALUCKY.
