A gathering of friends at Kinfolk Magazine's Austin Dinner
In an era of digital information overload Kinfolk Magazine is taking it back to simpler times. Focused on lifestyle and the art of entertaining, Kinfolk — which can be found online and in print — was created by Nathan Williams, whosw Kinfolk team spans the country.
The magazine's pages are filled with beautiful modern and uncomplicated photographs. From dinner gatherings to restaurant interviews, Kinfolk captures charm and elegance in a natural way.
From dinner gatherings to restaurant interviews, Kinfolk captures charm and elegance in a natural way.
With this inspiration, they began the Kinfolk Dinner series. Launched in January, the event is a way to connect with their readers and contributors throughout the country.
Kinfolk invites communities together, infusing each gathering with local artisans and small businesses. Their goal is to reach 12 different cities in a year, with one dinner each month.
Last Saturday, they held their Austin dinner at Johnson’s Backyard Garden, with the help of Any Style Catering plus a handful of Austin’s favorite small businesses.
The laid-back but luxurious event was very much in line with Kinfolk Magazine’s manifesto:
Every element of Kinfolk—the features, photography, and general aesthetics — are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends.
