Top celebrity sightings at SXSW 2024: Premieres, afterparties, and a huge joint
If you want to spot a celebrity in Austin, the SXSW festival is the perfect place to make it happen! From red carpet premieres and both official and unofficial parties, to hotels and restaurants around the city, the ATX is never short of celebrity sightings during the fest.
At the Prime Video Fallout preview event (where Elon Musk made a surprise appearance), Walton Goggins told us he’s been coming to Austin for decades. So, it’s no surprise he took full advantage of his time at the festival. He popped up at the Fallout installation more than once, in addition to attending the premiere of the film The Uninvited and the after party at the Cinema Center.
When Post Malone rolled up to the Road House premiere on the opening night of the festival, the Grapevine High graduate climbed out of the car with a can of Bud Light, which he proceeded to carry onto the red carpet. Other attendees walking the red carpet included Jake Gyllenaal, Conor McGregor, Billy Magnussen and Lukas Gage. Following the screening, the gang celebrated at Fair Market.
The crowds were out for another big festival premiere: The Fall Guy. Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt to the ATX just days after the Academy Awards. Although time is always tight at these red carpet events, they both took plenty of time signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans behind the barricade across from the Paramount Theatre.
We can’t forget the arrival of Cheech and Chong! Before presenting their new film, Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie, the iconic duo rolled up in a Rolls Royce hauling a giant smoking joint.
Following a late night screening of Immaculate, Sydney Sweeney attended the Roxstar Entertainment's Cinema Center afterparty at Higbie’s. Co-star Álvaro Morte was also there, as was actor Cole Sprouse.
Social media was abuzz with sightings of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (f.k.a. Meghan Markle). The night before she spoke on an official panel about breaking barriers, the couple was seen having dinner at Soho House. Following her session, they were spotted at La Barbecue on East Cesar Chavez.
Anne Hathaway dined at The Statesman on West 6th Street the night before the premiere of The Idea of You. Before the closing night film, she greeted fans, spoke to everyone on the red carpet and sat amongst the crowd at the Paramount, where she got emotional on stage after the screening. She later celebrated with co-stars Nicholas Galitzine, Ella Rubin and Reid Scott at Estelle’s in the Warehouse District. Film producer Gabrielle Union was also enjoying the chic club.
