Southwest adds 3 new nonstop flights from Austin — including San Francisco
Southwest is adding to its roster of nonstop flights from Austin in 2018. On Monday, August 28, the airline announced new daily nonstop service to San Francisco and Sacramento, California, as well as Sunday-only nonstop service to Indianapolis. Service starts April 8, 2018.
Flights to San Francisco will depart Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 3:30 pm, arriving at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 5:25 pm. Return flights depart SFO at 5:55 am and arrive in Austin at 11:30 am.
The new Sacramento route will depart Austin at 7:55 pm; return flights will leave Sacramento International Airport (SMF) at 6:30 am. Sunday-only service to Indianapolis is scheduled to depart Austin at 1 pm; flights from Indianapolis to Austin will take off at 4:20 pm.
“The new nonstop of Sacramento makes connecting capital to capital easier than ever,” says Jim Smith, executive director of ABIA, in a release. “With this new daily service plus another option to San Francisco, Southwest now connects our Central Texas travelers to four airports in Northern California.”
With the three new flights, Southwest will offer 68 daily departures from Austin. It's also the largest carrier at ABIA, providing service to over 4.7 million Austin passengers in 2016, notes the release.
Other recently announced nonstop flights from ABIA include low-cost service to Columbus, Ohio, via Allegiant, as well as a slew of routes from Frontier.
