Downtown Austin hot spot named one of the world's best hotels
One of Austin's hottest new hotels is in the global spotlight. Condé Nast Traveler has released its 2016 Readers' Choice Awards, naming JW Marriott the No. 42 best hotel in the world.
"This downtown Austin hot spot gets votes for good reason: There's its prime location, of course, just minutes from the Blanton Museum of Art, Lady Bird Lake, and several hundred music venues — but what’s inside is also worth mentioning," says Condé Nast Traveler. Add spacious, well-appointed rooms; multiple in-house dining outlets; and an "Instagram-worthy" rooftop pool, and you have the perfect location for vacations and staycations alike.
Only one other Texas hotel lands on the elite world's best list: San Antonio's charming Hotel Emma, at No. 19. The Alamo City destination also ranks third on the magazine's list of best hotels in the U.S.
Hotel Emma leads the best in Texas list, followed by Austin's JW Marriott and Hotel Van Zandt, The St. Anthony in San Antonio, and Gage Hotel in Marathon. The Driskill appears at No. 15.
Three Hill Country hideaways appear on the ranking of best resorts in Texas and the Southwest: Lake Austin Spa Resort, at No. 3; Travaasa, at No. 6; and Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, at No. 14, proving you don't need to travel far for an exquisite getaway.
