Politics, philanthropy and CultureMap were topics on the table at the Four Seasons Hotel when Tricia Dewhurst, wife of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, rounded up an influential group of women for a meet-and-greet with CultureMap CEO Alyce Alston.
Much of the discussion centered on increasing the profile of non-profits in the Austin community with Blanton Museum of Art development director Molly Sherman, Texas Cultural Trust executive director Amy Barbee and Ballet Austin executive director Cookie Ruiz taking the lead. Alston emphasized CultureMap's role in helping these groups widen their net of supporters.
Shannon Janek, wife of Kyle Janek who is Texas Health and Human Services executive commissioner, joined Sally Brown, wife of University of Texas football coach Mack Brown, and Carolyn Hodge, head of the Texas Federation of Republic Women, in adding broader viewpoints to the conversation.
Among the lobbyists, attorneys and community leaders in the mix were Yuniedth Midence Steen, Sally Dowell, Jennifer Ransom Rice, Rebecca Hardeman, Laura Gottesman, Sabrina Brown, Jan Ott, Jody Rushton, Cathy Brock, CultureMap Austin editor in chief Caitlin Ryan and CultureMap Dallas GM Phyllis Cole.
