Austin is very lucky to have a treasure trove of artistic museums. It's even more fortunate when one reaches a milestone anniversary. The Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum is celebrating its landmark 25th annual "Garden Party" fundraising gala on Thursday, April 18.
This year's extravaganza – themed "An Austin Gem" – will feature entertainment from the Nash Hernandez Orchestra and bites from 25 popular local eateries around town, such as Swift's Attic, Odd Duck, El Alma, and more. Twin Liquors and Tito's Handmade Vodka will provide the evening's beverage selection, will special input from Still Austin and The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen.
"We are so thrilled and so grateful for the continued support and participation of chefs and restaurateurs all over Austin," said UMLAUF Garden Party co-chair Dale Huggins in a release.
The Garden Party has risen in popularity over the years as its impact on the local community has grown. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the museum's community outreach programs, which provide art education to Austin students at Title 1 schools.
Programs that are supported include the museum's Family Days on the second Sunday of each month, a variety of summer camps, and the Shaping Space after school programs.
"Year over year we have continued to see a growing trend of interest for participation from Austin’s brilliant culinary scene and the community in general as they become more aware of the special gem that this museum has become," Huggins continued. "We are incredibly honored to bring everyone together while giving back to this iconic Austin landmark."
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum first opened in 1991 as a way to publicly share and preserve UT professor and acclaimed artist Charles Umlauf's work with the local Austin community. In 2023 it revealed plans to expand its physical space and welcomed more chefs.
