Big changes on Austin radio include new show for Dale Dudley and return of Charlie Hodge
Big changes are coming to Austin radio. Newsradio KLBJ — Austin's only talk show-focused radio station — is shaking things up with a new morning show and fresh additions to the weekday lineup beginning Monday, September 14.
First and foremost, hosts Todd Jeffries and Don Pryor will be taking over the morning drive time slot. The Todd & Don Show previously aired during the midmorning, but the local duo known for biting news commentary will now be broadcasted from 6-9 am Monday through Friday.
Following the retirement of Sgt. Sam Cox this summer, the morning show with Mark, Ed, and Sgt. Sam has dissolved. Ed Clements will join Jeff Ward for an expanded time slot during the afternoon drive time. Mark Caesar will take the midmorning slot with his new co-host and longtime radio staple Charlie Hodge, who many will recognize from his tenure with Dudley and Bob on sister station 93.7 KLBJ FM.
Dale Dudley himself will now host a one-hour news show in the afternoon while also continuing his popular morning show on KLBJ FM.
The lineup shuffle is a result of Newsradio KLBJ's emphasis on broadening its listening audience. "Austin's diverse and rapidly growing population deserves an outlet for meaningful, insightful conversation, and we believe this lineup serves that interest with the most compelling and entertaining hosts in Austin and beyond," said Vice President of Programming and Operations Chase Rupe in a press release.
"We are welcoming another generation of information-hungry listeners," added Vice President and Market Manager Scott Gillmore.
Although the changes reflect a slight shift in ideologies, the station that is most known for its conservative viewpoints will still keep popular syndicated shows like Rush Limbaugh on the bill. The Dana Show with Dana Loesch will be added to the evening lineup, while Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis will continue its nightly reign.
The complete weekday lineup is as follows:
The Todd & Don Show: 6 to 9 am
Mark Caesar & Charlie Hodge: 9 to 11 am
Rush Limbaugh: 11 am to 2 pm:
Dale Dudley: 2 to 3 pm
Jeff Ward & Ed Clements: 3 to 7 pm
The Dana Show: 7 to 9 pm
Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis: 9 pm to midnight
