Mastermind behind Hotel Saint Cecilia plans 100-room boutique hotel in Travis Heights
Liz Lambert, mastermind behind Hotel Saint Cecilia, Hotel San Jose, Havana in San Antonio and El Cosmico in Marfa has snatched up a prime piece of Travis Heights property.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Lambert has filed plans with the city to open the Terrace Hotel, a 100-room boutique hotel occupying 1.2 acres of land on Academy Drive near Music Lane — practically next door to the Saint Cecilia.
Citing papers filed with the city, the Statesman is reporting that in addition to the hotel, plans include developing 15 condominiums, a restaurant and a cocktail lounge.
The land is currently occupied by offices, apartment buildings and a single-family home which means the area will have to be rezoned in order to move forward with development. Lambert will present plans for the Terrace Hotel on Monday to the Greater South River City Neighborhood planning team. If approved, the request will then go before the Austin Planning Commission and the Austin City Council, who will make the final decision.
