Hottest Ticket in Town
If you're young, scrappy, and hungry for Hamilton tickets (or just scrappy and hungry), the time has come. More than a year after Broadway in Austin announced the hit musical turned cultural phenomenon was coming to the Capital City, Hamilton tickets are finally going on sale April 12.
Tickets for the show, which hits Bass Concert Hall May 28-June 16, will be available beginning at 10 am via the Texas Performing Arts website. Though a limited number will be available at the ticket office, online purchases are suggested.
Considering this is arguably the hottest ticket of the season, getting ahold of them is a bit of a process. To begin, make sure to create a Texas Performing Arts account, which is available for free here, before sale time.
On April 12, log in early and have payment info ready to go. Prior to 10 am, everyone will be placed in a virtual waiting room. Once tickets are released, each user will be assigned a random number that indicates their place in the queue. Users who log into the room at 10 am or after will be placed at the end of the line, so set an alarm and get in there early.
Once their number comes up, users will then be redirected to the purchase page and will have eight minutes to complete the sale. A maximum of four tickets will be available for each buyer, and while specific seats will not be available, general theater seating areas and prices can be selected.
"Please note that TexasPerformingArts.org and Bass Concert Hall are the only authorized sources for Hamilton tickets in Austin," Broadway in Austin warned a press release. "If you purchase tickets from any other source, we cannot guarantee your seat. Also, if you're gleefully sharing your Hamilton win on social media, make sure to cover the barcode. That code assures your entrance into the show.
Hamilton, which scored 16 Tony Award nominations in 2016 — the most ever — rounds out the 2018-19 Broadway in Austin season. For those who miss their shot to score Hamilton tickets, another Broadway classic, Cats, is sashaying into town May 7-12. Tickets for that show are available here.
