Amplify Austin
Watch Austin celebrities rally together for biggest fundraiser of the year
Amplify Austin Day is back with another big goal: to raise $9 million for Austin nonprofits in only 24 hours. The online fundraiser spearheaded by I Live Here, I Give Here kicks off at 6 pm on Thursday, March 2.
Amplify Austin has raised more than $24.7 million for the community, including a record-breaking $8.5 million in 2016 (which fell just short of the ambitious $9 million goal).
During the day-long event, organizations seek donations, host watch parties, and partner with companies to match individual donations. Once again, the St. David's Foundation has generously donated $1 million before Amplify Austin even begins. The wide spectrum of participating nonprofits — nearly 700 — ranges from Austin Pets Alive! to Zach Theatre.
To help raise awareness, local celebrities Aaron Franklin, Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker, Kendra Scott, and Mayor Steve Adler filmed a special promotional video sharing some of their reasons for donating during Amplify Austin.
"There's such a wealth of opportunity in this city, it's fair and just that every Austinite be exposed to it," says Decker. "All you gotta do is give on one day," Franklin points out.
You can schedule donations online before the fundraiser begins or donate any time between 6 pm Thursday, March 2, and 6 pm Friday, March 3. Amplify Austin suggests a minimum donation of $25, but donations as small as $10 are accepted; all donations are tax deductible.
Want to do more than donate? Some of our favorite nonprofits will be hosting happy hours and other fun get togethers. Check out the full lineup of Amplify Austin events here.
