One of the largest retailers in East Austin's Plaza Saltillo is now open for business. Amid the coronavirus hubbub, Target opened one of its "small-format stores," affectionately dubbed a tiny Target, on March 15 at 901 E. Fifth St., Ste. 140.
The "tiny," 25,000-square-foot retailer offers a curated selection of Target's usual items, including apparel and accessories; home decor and essentials; health, personal care, and beauty products; and grab-and-go groceries and fresh produce. The store employs about 40 new team members, notes a release.
In addition to retail, the Plaza Saltillo Target also offers order pickup, a service that allows guests to order items online and pick up in the store in as soon as an hour.
"Target has committed to opening small-format stores, reimagining existing stores, blending the best of digital and physical shopping experiences, offering ease and convenience through same-day fulfillment options, and introducing new, exclusive brands," the company says.
This is the second small-format Target in Austin; the city's first opened on the Drag in 2017. Overall, this makes the 17th Target in the Austin area.
The new east side Target is open seven days a week, Monday-Friday, 7 am-10 pm; Saturday, 8 am-11 pm; and Sunday 8 am-10 pm.
