Pet of the Week
APA! introduces Walter, the laid-back kitty who loves his toys
This week, Austin Pets Alive! would like you to meet Walter, a big and somewhat rotund shorthair cat who does what cats do best. He lounges around, plays with his catnip mouse toy, and snuggles up against you when he wants some company. He's a popular guy down at APA!, but now he just needs to find a forever home with some humans who can't wait to give him the care and attention he craves.
Name: Walter
Sex: Male
Breed: Domestic Shorthair Mix
Adult size: Large
Sign: Taurus
Age: 4 years
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Declawed: No
Adoption donation: $0
Location: On site
Surprise fact: Walter was born without eyelids, but this just gives his pretty face a little more character.
What APA! says about Walter:
- Walter has tested positive for Feline Leukemia, so he needs to be an indoor cat with either no other cats or ones who are also FeLV positive. He requires a special nutritionally balanced diet and plenty of attention so that he gets immediate vet help should he become ill. Since FeLV+ cats live shorter lives, Walter's adoption fee is $0.
- Walter doesn't tend to scratch, but he sometimes uses his claws to pull himself up into laps, so he may not be a good fit for children.
Why APA! says Walter deserves your love:
- Even though Walter requires some extra attention for his health, he is still the perfect addition for a home that offers some extra TLC, whether he's purring in your lap or playing with his toys with you.
- If you would like a preview of how playful Walter can be, APA! has a livestream of the ward he lives in that allows viewers to control automated toys in the room.
