A lot of the roughly 32 million Americans who’ve been on the move in 2017 appear to have been heading to Austin. A new ranking of the top relocation destinations for Americans this year puts Austin at No. 6.

Updater, a moving app, based the list on its relocation data for 1 million household moves from January 1 through October 1. Also showing up on the Updater list are Dallas-Fort Worth, at No. 2, and Houston, at No. 7.

“Texas was the only state with three cities included on our list,” David Greenberg, founder and CEO of Updater, tells CultureMap. “Dallas, Houston, and Austin all have vibrant entrepreneurial communities, show consistent economic growth, and [have] relatively low costs of living, making these cities attractive destinations for Americans from other regions.”

Washington, D.C., tops the Updater ranking. Other cities on the list are Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, Seattle, Denver, Boston, and Phoenix.

“These cities are some of the most attractive places to live. They’re huge markets with nice suburbs. You don’t have to live downtown to have a really great lifestyle,” Jenna Weinerman, chief marketing officer at Updater, told Crain’s. “Americans in general are migrating back to metro areas, [and] suburban metros are on the rise, pushing the city limits further out.”
