What did Austin Google in 2015? Our most popular searches revealed
No one does an end-of-year list quite like Google. The tech giant recently released the annual "Year in Search," giving us an inside look at what our neighbors were looking for on the world's No. 1 search engine in 2015.
It appears that Austin was pretty celeb-obsessed in 2015. Lamar Odom, Caitlyn Jenner, and Chris Kyle were among our top overall search terms, while Bobbi Kristina Brown took the No. 1 spot. When we weren't snooping for celebrity gossip, we were looking for info on Jurassic World, American Sniper, and 50 Shades of Gray. The only non-human, non-movie search term in Austin's top 10 was Hurricane Patricia.
Google also provided a breakdown of trending terms in three categories: news/events, people, and films. Austin aligned pretty well with the rest of the nation, but we were less interested in "Fallout 4," Donald Trump, and the Minions movie than other Americans. Top Austin-specific search terms of 2015 included the water level of Lake Travis, Bastrop fires, Austin City Limits, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys.
