Guests for Jimmy Kimmel Live! Austin shows include Hollywood stars and hometown heroes
Jimmy Kimmel is bringing his late night show back to SXSW again this year. This week, ABC announced a slew of high-profile guests expected to appear during the Austin shows.
Filming March 16-20 at the Long Center, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will host hometown hero Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Paisley, Kevin Hart and more. Kimmel also confirmed that Kanye West will be appearing on Friday's show.
Fans can also expect an appearance from Austin High School grad — and guitar god — Gary Clark Jr. "Throughout the week, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will also highlight musicians sitting in with the house band, Cleto and the Cletones, such as Gary Clark Jr.," ABC said in a press release.
Like last year, Kimmel and company will be filming skits around Austin. (The crew made a surprise scouting visit to Austin in February during which Kimmel and sidekick Guillermo rode around East Austin in a pedicab.)
Arguably the hottest event in town, the free tickets for Jimmy Kimmel Live! were released in February and quickly snatched up. Last year, Mayor Lee Leffingwell declared March 19 Austin's official Jimmy Kimmel Day. No word on whether the late night host plans to celebrate this historic occasion.
