box office blowout
For Hunger Games fans, on opening weekend: May the odds be ever in your favor
Looking forward to the opening weekend of everyone’s favorite young-adult post-apocalyptic survival tale, The Hunger Games?
You’re not alone.
A week before the film’s Austin release, tickets for opening weekend have already sold out at all four Alamo Drafthouse Theater locations, snapped up in pre-sales faster than a crossbow at the Cornucopia.
While it may be too late to avail yourself of the Alamo’s Panem-themed entrees (Katniss’s lamb and plum stew and the Mayor’s favorite strawberry upside down cake), you can still buy tickets early at Regal Westhouse Cinema, AMC Barton Creek Square Mall, Cinemark Tinseltown 17 and plenty of other Austin-area movie theaters.
Advice for opening night? If you’re coming in costume, remember that actual flames are not practical outerwear in a crowded movie theater.
And bring snacks. You’re going to get hungry.
