Laugh Until You Cry
Local comedian defies disability to create hilarious and touching viral workout video
Could you use a little motivation to get through the rest of the week? Get your head back in the game with the latest "Workout Wednesday" video from one of Austin’s favorite — and most unique — comedians, Zach Anner.
Fans will remember Anner, an Austin-based comedian with cerebral palsy, for becoming an online star when his audition for the Oprah Winfrey Network went viral. Although his series Rollin’ with Zach only ran for six episodes on OWN, Anner is still creating videos that are both hilarious and touching.
Never one to let his physical disability get in the way of making others laugh, Anner has churned out numerous videos of his workouts and adventures around Austin. On Wednesday, he released his 100th online video with a special "Workout Wednesday" episode that is all about the milestones we face in life.
In the video, Anner heads to the park, leaving his wheelchair behind and taking his old walker for a spin — something he hasn’t done since he was 10 years old. The video is full of humorous moments — Anner gives his take on Sex and the City and sings a very special rendition of The Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." But, this "Workout Wednesday" is more than funny bits; it's a reminder that milestones come in all shapes and sizes, whether it's having a high school diploma or your first kid.
The message is simple, but one that's taking the Internet by storm. Anner may no longer be on the Oprah Winfrey Network, but his 100th online video has already made it to the front page of Reddit. Take a moment to watch Anner’s latest workout session and gain some midweek motivation. And just remember: "You can't spell miles without smiles."
