Balancing perfectly on their musical Ledge: Exclusive new music from Robotanists
Making the trek all the way from Los Angeles, CA, Robotanists played the stage at The Sessions Factory SXSW 2011.
Performing their single, “On/Off The Ledge,” this female fronted, indie-pop rock foursome left quite an impression on everyone in attendance. Robotanists’ dreamy tone was one of the highlights of the entire day and it certainly reverberated through the Andy Warhol-inspired studio space.
Members Sarah Ellquist DeBlanke (lead vocal), Daniel DeBlanke (guitar), Keith Boyarsky (bass) and Preston Scott Phillips (drums) came together in 2008 to self-produce and release their freshman album, Close Down The Woods. After collecting a number of rock star reviews, Robotanists earned coveted positions on the Grammy nomination ballots for three straight years.
Just five days after the release of their third album, Plans In Progress, in February of 2011, Robotanists bravely went back into the studio to cover Radiohead’s newest LP, King Of Limbs. When did that get released, you ask? Only 24 hours later. If this band can crank out an entire cover album in just ONE day, you can only imagine what they have in store for us all in the future. And, you can download it here for free!
Nowadays, Robotanists are back at work in the studio, writing and recording their highly anticipated next album. Regulars on the Los Angeles music scene, you can catch them playing just about any night of the week, sometimes accompanied by their string ensemble, The Artificial Heartstrings. Follow this extremely friendly bunch on Twitter to stay on top of their recording and tour schedule!
