Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic brings legendary acts to Austin for 2017
The Red Headed Stranger is on a roll. Willie Nelson will bring his legendary 4th of July Picnic back to Austin for the third year in a row. The iconic event will take over Circuit of The Americas on July 4 with a full day of music, entertainment, and fun.
The lineup for the 44th annual festival includes Willie Nelson & Family, Sheryl Crow, Kacey Musgraves, Jamey Johnson, Steve Earle, Margo Price, Hayes Carll, Billy Joe Shaver, David Allan Coe, and more outstanding country and Americana artists. Once again the bonanza will feature food and beverage, wares from Texas-based vendors, and a fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.
The first 4th of July Picnic was held in Dripping Springs over four decades ago. The event returned to Austin in 2015 after years in other Texas cities.
"I got the idea from Woodstock about how music could bring people from different places together. I had just moved to Austin and had come to realize what a great music center it was and could be," Nelson said in 2015.
Tickets for the 4th of July Picnic go on sale at 10 am on Friday, April 21. Individual passes run $39.50 to $89.50. VIP packages are in the $300 to $500 range.
