Hocus Pocus star flies into Austin for special Halloween screening and more witchy fun
It's campy, it's spooky, it's ridiculous, it's a Halloween tradition. Whatever the reason, Disney's classic Hocus Pocus is so universally beloved that when news hit that the Long Center is hosting a special Halloween screening with one of the stars, everyone in the CultureMap office perked up as if under a spell.
The film's co-star Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson) will host a special Q&A and screening of Hocus Pocus at the Long Center on October 29, just in time for the spookiest holiday of the year. According to a release, Najimy will also judge a special Sanderson-themed costume contest, so get out those broomsticks and vacuums in preparation.
Even if audience members don't plan on brewing up a place in the costume contest, attendees are encouraged to dress in their witchy best.
Najimy's Q&A will be held before the screening, so hopefully she'll spill some secrets about the cult classic. For example, whatever happened to Thackery Binx? Is he still single? Did Jay and Ice ever escape from the cages? Did Dani grow up to be a witch? The questions, truly, are endless.
Tickets for the spooky screening are currently on sale for Long Center members, and go on sale to the general public beginning May 10 at 10 am. Passes can be purchased either online, by calling 512-474-5664 (LONG), or in person at the Long Center box office.
In addition to general admission tickets, which are currently priced as low as $24, a limited number of VIP passes will also be made available. VIP includes premium seating for the Q&A and screening as well as a photo op with Mary Sanderson herself.
