Summer Sounds
10 top Austin music acts playing around town all summer long
In the Live Music Capital of the World, the choices of where to go on any given night can seem overwhelming. It can be difficult to keep up, but lucky for us, some of our favorite musicians play regular gigs around town. Here's where to catch some of our favorite musicians in residence this summer.
Christine Albert at El Mercado
One of Austin’s favorite gigs is Mystery Mondays at El Mercado with Christine Albert, because you never know who is going to show up to play. You can always count on Albert and a rotating cast of friends that reads like a who's who of Austin music.
Mondays at 7:30 pm
The Matchmaker Band at The Highball
You will be dancing in the streets all summer long with one of Austin's favorite cover bands. Motown Monday never sounded so good.
Mondays at 9 pm
Tony Taboada Trio at Eddie V's Prime Seafood
If you are into Latin jazz, jazz standards with a little classic rock, rhythm and blues, and funk, this group is for you.
Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 pm
Sarah Sharp at The Elephant Room
A former member of the Jitterbug Vipers, Sharp performs her siren songs in the perfect location for her sultry sound. She has a new album coming out later this year — her solo debut — so be among the first to catch her newest offerings.
Tuesdays at 6 pm through August
Weldon Henson at The Broken Spoke
Vintage honky tonk with a rock 'n' roll attitude, so says Henson's website. If you love classic country music played the way it should be, then you will love Henson. Put on your best cowboy boots and head down to the Spoke for Two-Step Tuesdays.
Tuesdays at 8 pm
Ephraim Owens Experience at The Continental Club
Owens really is an experience. He plays the trumpet and flugelhorn with a certain edge that will have you coming back for more.
Tuesdays at 10:30 pm through August
Jeff Lofton at the Four Seasons' Lobby Lounge
Producer, composer, and jazz trumpeter supreme — it just doesn't get much better than Jeff Lofton.
Wednesdays at 8 pm
Rosie Flores and the Blue Moon Jazz Quartet at The Continental Club
Hear the softer side of our favorite Rockabilly Filly as she croons the jazz standards of the Great American Songbook along with her original jazz compositions.
Wednesdays at 8:30 pm through August
La Mona Loca at Pedro's Place
La Mona Loca is one of Austin's best-kept secrets, except among the devoted salsa dancers. If salsa, meringue, or bachata are your thing, dance the night away.
Wednesdays at 9 pm
Tje Austin Band at Antone's
R&B doesn't get much better than when it comes from Tje Austin. His latest EP, I Belong to You, has fans flocking to his shows.
Mondays in August at 9 pm
