Weee Fest brings an evening of eclectic music and art to Skinny’s Ballroom
This Sunday, the only-in-Austin variety show Weee Fest celebrates its fifth — and possibly final — installment at Skinny’s Ballroom.
Created and curated by Polly Smith of spork booking (the lady responsible for Cherrywood Coffee’s exceptional events calendar), Weee Fest is a celebration of “the weirdest of the weird, the most obscure, the least likely, the funniest, most wrongest, danciest, experimentalist, and bestest musicians, performers, and artists.” With past Weee Fest’s including performances from Night Viking, Pat Healy, Vid Kidz and more, the show’s proven to be a completely unpredictable, but always fun, line-up.
With a stage draped in red velvet and seats made of repurposed pews, Skinny's Ballroom is perfect for an evening of eclectic music and visual art.
Smith, who also helps produce the Acro-Cats Circus Cats’ wildly popular Austin appearances, will be hitting the road with the kitties and their trainers for the next few months, so this Weee Fest is especially a cause for celebration.
The party begins at 5 p.m. on June 24 at Skinny’s Ballroom, and if you haven’t been to the new-ish venue on San Jacinto and 2nd Street, you’re missing out; with a stage draped in red velvet and seats made of repurposed pews, the intimate space is perfect for an evening of eclectic music and visual art.
Here’s the line-up for Sunday’s show:
Patrick Healy
Cocker Spaniels
Doctor Clown
World Racketeering Squad
Bipolar Gentlemen
J Dubb
Lead Pipe
Pornohelmet
Lo Stadio Real
…and headliner Paul Arambula (Phoenix, AZ)
DJ Grog Frog will be on hand to soundtrack the between-band dance party.
You can check out exclusive videos from past Weee Fest performances, and hear tracks recorded live at Skinny’s, to get ready for tomorrow’s send-off show.
