Comedy superstar Amy Schumer drops the mic on new Austin tour date
Editor's note: Since publication, Amy Schumer has rescheduled her performance twice. The newest date is March 3. The Long Center will honor previously purchased tickets. More information can be found here.
Unlike Dave Chappelle, comedy superstar Amy Schumer is giving Austin a little more notice about her upcoming date with the Capital City. On August 24, the Long Center announced Schumer will be taking to the Dell Hall stage on September 28.
Famous for movies like Trainwreck and her Emmy Award-winning show, Inside Amy Schumer, it's a safe bet the comedian will likely to play to sold-out show when she returns to Austin next month. Tickets for the one-night-only performance go on sale beginning August 28 at 10 am via the Long Center. Pre-sale tickets are available to Long Center members beginning on August 25 at 10 am.
The comedian kicks off her Amy Schumer and Friends tour on August 31 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and ends in Albany, New York, in November. As of press time, Austin is Schumer's only Texas tour date. And, bonus for fans, Schumer will be debuting all new material during the run.
For those lucky enough to score a ticket, the event is phone-free, something that is increasingly common among live performers. The Long Center requests attendees leave the phone at home or they will be required to store it in a locked pouch for the duration of the show.
Schumer's performance comes amidst a banner year for the Long Center, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. On September 9, the South Austin venue is hosting a free birthday bash for the public on the Long Center lawn. Running from 1-5 pm, the birthday party's highlights include a performance from Grupo Fantasmo, goat yoga, an interactive art exhibit, food trucks, cupcakes, and more.
