Come Back, Gambino!
ACL Music Festival adds new headliners following Childish Gambino cancellation
Editor's note: Since this story was originally published, ACL announced via Instagram that Lil Wayne will also join the 2018 lineup. Lil Wayne will headline the Saturday of weekend two (October 14).
After suffering a nasty injury during his Dallas show last weekend, Childish Gambino is postponing his latest tour — and canceling his headlining performance at this year's Austin City Limits Festival.
In a September 26 release, the homegrown festival announced Justice will replace Childish Gambino as the headliner, joining the previously announced Metallica on both Saturdays (October 6 and 13). Phoenix also joins the lineup on the Sunday of weekend one (October 7).
The fest also announced that Travis Scott will now headline both Sundays (October 7 and 14) alongside Arctic Monkeys. In addition to Scott, ACL 2018's other headliners are Paul McCartney, The National, Arctic Monkeys, and Odesza.
Childish Gambino, the stage name of actor/musician Donald Glover, was in the midst of his This is America Tour when he was injured. The artist has announced a series of make up days in December, though Austin is not among them.
Considering this tour is purported to be his last, we hope Gambino will reconsider making a stop in Austin. After all, what's America without the Live Music Capital of the World?
