Surprise Lineup Reveal
Surprise announcement from Austin festival reveals Beach Boy performance
In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Levitation dropped nine big names performing at the ninth annual festival in 2016. Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson leads the short — and eclectic — list.
"This lineup preview will give people an idea of the eclectic group of artists we'll be bringing to Levitation in 2016. As always, we're checking off our ever-expanding wish list, bringing our favorite artists to Austin. We're honored to present Brian Wilson, one of the greatest musicians of all time," said Rob Fitzpatrick, co-founder and booker, in a press release.
Wilson will be performing The Beach Boys' acclaimed 1966 album Pet Sounds in its entirety to honor the record's 50th anniversary.
The other eight names in the lineup preview represent a wide array of psychedelic music. Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Lee Scratch Perry, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ty Segall, Sleep, Black Mountain, and Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats round out the teaser.
Tickets for Levitation, April 29 through May 1, are on sale now. Weekend passes start at $165.
