ACL 2014
ACL Festival releases 2014 dates and brings back popular single-day passes
Less than a day after the final Sunday of Austin City Limits Festival was canceled due to flooding, organizers announced that the festival will be back in 2014 with two weekends and single-day passes available. The festival will run over two weekends for the second year in a row, kicking off on October 3-5 and running again October 10-12. No bands have been announced.
Though it didn't offer them this year, the festival will revive past years' practice of making a limited number of single-day passes available. To get on the single pass email list, sign up here.
As usual, $50 Souvenir 3-Day Passes will be available for a limited time. You can get on that list by signing up and following instructions here. If you miss your chance to grab a single pass (or just don't feel like following those directions), you can still grab the $200 Early Bird 3-Day Pass or the $225 Regular 3-Day Pass.
The 2013 ACL Festival did not come without controversy, and we're betting this year won't be much different. This summer, the mayor of Rollingwood, the small town that neighbors Zilker Park, came out in protest of the expanded festival, citing increased traffic and expenses. Even a quick glance through the comments on ACL's official site point to the polarized reactions many Austinites are having. Add in the fact that C3 Presents, the company that puts on the festival, is in hot water with dog owners over the potential elimination of the leash-free area of Auditorium Shores, and they're having a bit of public relations issue right now.
