SXSW Music Additions
SXSW Music adds 200 more bands to lineup — including some very interesting acts
On Tuesday, SXSW announced the addition of more than 200 artists to its Music programming lineup, including two big — and very different — acts. In a genre jump that spans from 1960s rock to early 2000s hip-hop, next year's SXSW festival will showcase performances from both The Zombies and Sean Paul.
Other big names in the second release from SXSW Music include AWOLNATION, The Ting Tings, Twin Shadow, Gang of Four and Surfer Blood. Coupled with the festival's previous program announcement back in October, it's clear the schedule is shaping up to be an eclectic bunch of artists both old and new. Also scheduled to perform are Courtney Barnett, Twin Peaks and former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland.
The Music faction of the fest is far from being filled, but so far Austin musicians have made an impressive showing in the lineup for next March. Quiet Company, Jon Dee Graham, Whiskey Shivers, Mother Falcon and Jamestown Revival are all expected to perform. The first release from SXSW unveiled local big wigs including Ben Kweller, East Cameron Folkcore, Jess Williamson, Emily Wolfe and Ume.
SXSW Music 2015 will run from March 17-22. To see the entire lineup so far, check out the SXSW website.
