London's Daily Mail is reporting that troubled singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment Saturday afternoon, the victim of an apparent overdose.
The 27-year-old Grammy winner's battle with drugs and alcohol has been well documented since blowing onto the mainstream scene with her 2006 album, Back to Black.
Last month Winehouse canceled her entire European tour after a much-publicized meltdown on-stage in Serbia.
The death was first reported by Sky News. Police have not confirmed the cause of death but Sky News Home Affairs Correspondent Mark White reports that sources confirmed that Winehouse died of a drug overdose. An autopsy will be performed on Sunday.
Fans point out that Winehouse has joined the "27 club": Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Kobain all died at 27.
