Scrappy Austin band Die Spitz announces new LP on Jack White's label

Die Spitz look sweet until the punches start flying.
Despite the widely expected weirdness of Austin's music scene, most of the city's ascendant acts have a certain polish to them. Die Spitz, however, have held the line against propriety. It's gotten the band signed by Third Man Records, the Nashville, Tennessee-based label owned in part by former White Stripes frontman Jack White.
The band is working on their debut LP now for a release sometime in 2025. The announcement is accompanied by a new tour with a final performance in Austin at Stubb's on October 24.
Die Spitz formed in 2022 and has quickly become a local favorite, especially in live settings where they're known for their intense, high-energy stage presence. The four women — Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Ellie Livingston, and Kate Halter — headbang, stage dive, trade instruments, and prowl around the stage like predators, all while creating as much noise as possible with heavy distortion. On the recorded side, it's not a Die Spitz music video if there's no blood.
The band has released two EPs (The Revenge of Evangeline and Teeth) four singles: the most popular, "Hair of Dog", and a trio released in quick succession in April 2024, "i hate when GIRLS die," "My Hot Piss," and "Little Flame." That makes the Third Man debut Die Spitz's first full-length album.
By 2023, the band was already playing Austin City Limits Music Festival (a longtime dream for many). Teeth won Album of the Year at the Austin Music Awards for 2023-2024, and in February 2025, “I hate when GIRLS die” won Music Video of the Year.
Locals might have noticed a connection between the band and the label during South by Southwest, when Die Spitz played at the 13th Floor as part of Third Man Records & Creem’s “Two-Day Rock ‘N’ Roll Party."
Third Man's touring artist roster includes Nashville's Be Your Own Pet and Snõõper, New York City's Hotline TNT, Philadelphia's Sheer Mag, and White and his wife, Olivia Jean, on their own respective projects.
The record label has a long artist roster when it comes to record pressing, including re-issues of Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band’s Trout Mask Replica, The Raconteurs' Broken Boy Soldiers, The Stooges' Live at Goose Lake: August 8th 1970, Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose, and more.
"We are so grateful to Third Man for this opportunity," said Die Spitz in the release. "We’re having a grand ole time recording and can’t wait for yall to hear!”
