Heavy metal gods Judas Priest rock Austin on new fall tour
Remember when Beavis and Butthead used to rock out whenever MTV played a Judas Priest video? This fall, Austinites will get the chance to do that when the heavy metal legends come to town for a live, certain-to-be-very-loud concert.
On Tuesday, June 11, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Judas Priestannounced a new leg of their Invincible Shield Tour with special guest Sabaton. The all-time greats will take over new markets in North America this fall with an additional 23 performances. All shows will feature music from Invincible Shield, their recently-released, 19th studio album, along with all of their classic hits like Breaking the Law, Painkiller, and You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.
The tour includes three Texas stops:
- October 22: Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land
- October 24: Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin
- October 26: The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving
The metal gods from Birmingham (England, not Alabama) spent over 50 years crafting a legendary career. Despite lineup changes and various challenges, the band's resilience remained unwavering. In 2018, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Richie Faulkner, Ian Hill, and Scott Travis released Firepower which soared as one of their most successful albums, backed by an extensive global tour.
Amid health setbacks and the pandemic, they persevered with a 50th-anniversary tour and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022. Following a headlining performance at the 2023 PowerTrip Music Festival and the release of Shield, Judas Priest's continues to spread their heavy metal legacy into 2024 and beyond.
Tickets will be available starting with an artist presale beginning Wednesday, June 12. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday at 10 am at judaspriestinvincibleshield.com.
