1. New bowling alley transforms long-neglected South Congress warehouse. A nostalgic entertainment venue is making its highly anticipated Austin debut on April 17. Pins Mechanical Co. brings 43,000 square feet full of bowling, classic arcade games, and cocktails to 4323 S. Congress Ave. in the St. Elmo district.

2. Austin's 8 best breweries of 2025 deserve all the buzz. The 2025 CultureMap Tastemaker Awards nominees for Brewery of the Year are overflowing with versatility and well-crafted sips.

3. New 'surf condos' near Austin backed by world champion Kelly Slater. A water-themed community featuring dozens of “surf condos,” backed by surfing legend Kelly Slater, is making waves in Del Valle.

4. Director Taylor Sheridan to speak at UT commencement in Austin. Renowned director and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan is set to deliver the keynote address at the University of Texas' 142nd Commencement Ceremony on May 10. The ceremony is expected to draw more than 50,000 attendees to DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.

5. Iconic Austin grocer Thom's Market closing all stores after 18 years. Austin neighborhood grocery store Thom's Market is closing for good after 18 years. Store officials say all three locations — on Barton Springs Road, Riverside Drive, and Burnet Road — will close their doors on Easter Sunday, April 20.
