Sasha and the Valentines return to the Austin stage, plus more post-ACL live music this month

Don’t let all of that live music momentum from ACL go to waste; keep it going by way of these quality local shows set for the back half of October.
Sasha and the Valentines at the Mohawk – Saturday, October 22
Dream pop act Sasha and the Valentines will make their long-awaited return to the stage this Saturday, October 22 at the Mohawk. Hey Cowboy! and Daphne Tunes will serve as support at the show. Tickets are $15. In case you missed it, Sasha and the Valentines released an excellent 2021 album, So You Think You Found Love?
The Deer at the Parish – Saturday, October 22
The Deer’s new (and very good) album, The Beautiful Undead, came out in early September, but the release show for it is just now coming around. Celebrate with the indie folk act this Saturday, October 22, at the Parish. Them Coulee Boys and Batty Jr. will open the evening. Tickets for the show are $17.
Pale Dian at Hotel Vegas – Sunday, October 23
Self-described nightmare pop act Pale Dian have a new album, Feral Birth, and the release show for it is this Sunday, October 23. Show up early to catch The Stargazer Lilies and Daydream Twins. Tickets are $10.
Bill Callahan at The Far Out Lounge – Saturday, October 29
Hot on the heels of the release of his fantastic new album, YTI⅃AƎЯ, Bill Callahan will play the Far Out Lounge on Saturday, October 29. Pascal Kerong’A will open for the distinguished singer/songwriter. Tickets are $30.
The Black Angels at Stubb’s – Sunday, October 30
There are plenty of local acts scattered across the lineup for LEVITATION, which will take over downtown Austin from October 27-30. If you’re only going to see one, make it the Black Angels, whose members Christian Bland and Alex Maas helped start the festival back in 2008 (it was then known as Austin Psych Fest). Their show will take place at Stubb’s on Sunday, October 30. Tickets are $45. Full details on the fest can be had here.
Hyperreal Film Club Villain’s Ball at Hotel Vegas – Monday, October 31
If you’re looking for a good party on Halloween proper, look no further than the Hyperreal Film Club Villain’s Ball at Hotel Vegas. Scream will be screened out on the patio and there’s an indoor show featuring Lord Friday the 13th, Holy Wire, TC Superstar, and Sabrina Ellis. You can also expect a costume contest, themed treats, and lots more. Tickets for this event range from $5-$15.
