1. Austin suburb named one of the best places to live by Fortune Magazine. It's good to be in Round Rock, at least according to Fortune. The Austin suburb was the only Texas city to make this year's list of best places to live.
2. New independent bookstore fills a long-empty void in Dripping Springs. A woman-owned local bookstore opened on June 22. It is currently the only one of its type, and past indie bookstores were not well-recorded.
3. 21 Austin companies recognized as best employers in Texas by Fortune Magazine. The highest rank in Austin was No. 10, and its workers cited the "diversity of backgrounds" among team members.
4. SNL alumni Amy Poehler and Tina Fey bring their comedy tour to Austin's Bass Concert Hall this fall. Poehler and Fey have had long, intertwining careers. But seeing both at the same time is a big deal, especially in Texas.
