Blowin' into town
Downtown Austin's newest bar offers nothing but blowouts
Drybar, the California-based company that sparked a hair revolution, is whirling into downtown Austin. On October 23, the beauty chain that offers nothing but blowouts — and its own brand of high-end hair products for purchase — announced it is opening in downtown's 2nd Street District this November.
The by-appointment shop at 202 Colorado St., Ste. 913, offers a full style menu with a "look for every hair need." Among the available options are The Straight Up, the brand's signature blowout; The Manhattan, a sleek and straight 'do; and the Southern Comfort, a big hair, don't care voluminous style.
Clients can also opt for in-house services including updos, hydration and mud hair masks, and braids from the braid bar. Little fashionistas can select a Shirley Temple, which includes services for ages 10 and under.
Drybar's Colorado Street location houses 14 stylist chairs to accommodate group services for weddings, bachelorette parties, and events. Customers can also purchase Drybar-branded products, ranging from hair dryers to dry shampoo to leave-in conditioners.
Since launching in Los Angeles' tony Brentwood neighborhood in 2010, the Drybar brand has grown to more than 100 locations, including one in the Domain Northside. The company also has plans to open in San Antonio's Alamo Heights neighborhood, according to its website.
Appointments can be booked online or through the Drybar app. Blowouts are priced at $45, including a wash, and $25 for dry styling without a wash. "Barfly" memberships are $80 per month and include two blowouts and other perks.
Once Drybar blows into the 2nd Street District, it will be open seven days a week. Monday through Wednesday from 7 am-8 pm, Thursday through Friday from 7 am-9 pm, Saturday from 8 am-9 pm, and Sunday from 9 am-7 pm.
